At age 15, at a summer camp, I decided I was called to serve others. I knew even then it was to get down into the nitty-gritty of people's lives, and help them in the hard things. I had no idea what I was getting into!
Years of being with people in hard things like confusion, loss, and stress took a toll on me. I began to personally struggle. Giving support to others can "drain the tank," after awhile. I needed ways to refill.
I took a course on stress reduction and being more in the moment. I practiced for years and worked to integrate this with my faith.
It have a strong desire to teach people what I learned, that being more aware of the present can bring a raft of benefits, personally and spiritually.
Workshops, counseling, coaching, and the podcast "Encouraging Being" are ways I teach this.
